Nicholson Gallery
The Nicholson Gallery showcases a wide range of art for the benefit of both our pupils and the wider North Norfolk community. We host a busy programme of exhibitions during term time, featuring both professional and student artists, often placing particular emphasis on local or emerging artists.
Housed within our Art Department in the purpose-built Cairns Centre, the large exhibition space is spread across two floors, allowing for professional and spacious displays.
Exhibitors often spend time discussing their work with our pupils, enriching the quality and breadth of our Arts programme.
During Term Time, the Gallery is open 10am - 4pm, Monday through Saturday.
For information on exhibitions and events please contact Charley Openshaw, our Head of Art, at

Kim Davison: Expressionism
4th- 17th November
Private View: Friday 4th November 6-8pm
I produce from my studio an ever-evolving genre wherein the figurative, the human form, is a central theme. Capturing a movement, a moment, in the endless flow of life is love, my love. That life has flowed from time immemorial, without repeat, each unique motion of each individual an act of love - conscious or sub-conscious, knowing or unknowing, intended or accidental. Who are we - except to move, and to be, and to love? Depicting life - and, so love in its endless magical mystical variety must continue to be one of the cornerstones of art. Life and love are inextricably intertwined, and arguably identical in the final analysis.
Human form and movement are too rich and to diverse to ever be captured in their wholeness. My work is humbly, a step in that direction, an inevitable journey along my life's path, a joyful celebration of the love that surrounds us - but only rarely perceive.

Rachel Hannyngton: Unfoldings
Friday 24 February to Thursday 8 March
Private View: Friday 24 February 6-8pm
Rachel Hannyngton has been working as a portrait artist for many years, working solely to commission and exhibiting rarely. Here, in her first solo show, she reveals a distinctly different body of work, exploring new territory.
The view from the upstairs window, the artist’s own face, old photographs - all are subject to scrutiny as she explores the internal and external landscape of things familiar and personal.
Working in layers, fragments, erasures and hesitancies, she constantly questions and alters the image, searching for the ‘shimmer’, the fugitive moment, the catch of the breath, when the picture begins to tell its own story.
“In the minutiae lie often the unfoldings of the story, as well as of the heart.” Samuel Richardson, 1754
